Adventure Two

Post adoption and after being cleared by the U.S. Embassy to travel back to the USA, we chose to take a detour and fly to the Caribbean coast of Colombia.  The first 4 days we stayed at a private resort that is only accessible by boat. Before our water taxi arrived, we enjoyed the the sun, food, and scenery of old town Cartagena. Then off to the dock for a 30 minute boat ride to the Blue Apple Resort.

We were welcomed by the staff and invited to begin our vacation in paradise. The kids experienced for the first time paddleboards, snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, and horseback riding. We also swam around 6 hours a day between the resort pool and our private splash pool. From relaxing in our hammocks to enjoying a beverage poolside to watching the sunset for a candlelight dinner next to the Caribbean ocean, we had an unforgettable experience.

The next 2 days, we took our adventures to the old city and stayed at the 5 star world renown Hotel Santa Clara. The phrase that best describes this part of our vacation is Celebrity Living. Even though the temperature was close to 100 degrees, that did not stop us from starting the family bike adventures in the Cartagena sun. We also enjoyed shopping, eating, a horse and carriage ride, and a walking tour with a local expert. I also learned how expensive this city was and almost had to ask the hotel to wash dishes when I received a $235 dry cleaning bill for some underclothes, swimming trunks, and a few t-shirts. This is by far the best city in the world that we have experienced!
